So! I uh...well...I um...
There comes a time when I can no longer stand not writing and I think that time is now.
<insert groggy writing brain monologue here>
Okay
then, lil' miss smarty pants. Where ya gunna start? How can you
possibly try to sum up everything that's happened over the last YEAR
you've neglected SOME HARDCORE blogging?<end mouthy annoying writing
brain monologue>
The truth is, I've really really, missed writing. I hope I can stick to trying this time. I really want to...
My life has been quite the journey this past while. My burlesque ensemble has grown to be somewhat of a local hit. This really tickles me pink! It suprises me, scares me, inspires me and freaks me the hell out!
Last weekend we had our one year anniversary showcase revue. Two days before the show (Thursday) we appear on the cover of View Magazine (local entertainment paper). Not only that, we are the centre spread (pin up style with "FAQ" on each Siren) with an article that was stellar. I was worried, but I had faith in the writer. He has followed us since the beginning. He doubles as a radio host and has interviewed us on McMaster Radio a few times as well. The entire thing was pretty incredible. From left to right, the first two photos where quite fleshy and a bit sassy. We were suprised, yet again not, that out of the hundreds they had to pick from, they chose those flashy derierres. I may so self righteous to conclude that I am the married mumma so - no tushie shots for me....HOOO-RAAY!
Then Saturday - our show. To put it simply, it was a fantastic night and I'll never forget it!
What
else could happen that night to get excited about? An episode of the
notorious JR Digs (late night cult comedy show) we made an appearance
on also aired that SAME NIGHT. On Global and apparently also on MenTV
(which was news to me).
Am I glad I have the summer off now to relax? YES YES YES!
I started it off right last Wednesday. Daxon's first trip to Canada's Wonderland was shared with Evil Uncle C, Laura the First, Dr. Hugh and his brother, Pants. Daddio unfortunately was coming off night-shift and had to sleep. But not to worry, Daddio has big plans for Friday "Zooz!"
The rides were awesome. Daxon got a thrill on a little roller coaster! His sqeal was priceless! The Swans were a big hit...it was the only ride he did twice! I got to go on a few rides too! Daxon was perfectly happy sitting perched on Evil Uncle C and Dr. Hugh's shoulders and watching his Mumma be hoisted into the air, dropped and flung around at speeds and heights that are for the most part deadly.
It was also noted by Laura and I that Laura's are complusive, dangerous and wild in numbers.
Funnel
cakes made the first priority of the day. It occured to Laura and I
halfway through eating them that perhaps a better route would have been
to get ONE and SHARE...Can you blame us though...really...FUNNEL
CAKES...deepfried sugary goooooodnesssss...with
strawberry-sugar-marinated strawberriessssss...
Fast forward to Friday. Fun with McFatty and Amanda! And another Amanda (from high school days reunited via facebook) and her beau Trevor! Then karaoke at Woody's! Then home to rest! Then to Uncle Science Bear's 50th Birthday Party! I got to have arousing conversation about language, religion, TNG and I also got to play a bit of Wii!
My husband is a swell individual. I rather like him. Especially when he FINALLY CLEANS THE FORSAKEN PHILTHY MC-HELLA-NASTY CAR!
Seriously. You have no idea.
Things on the agenda? Putting away bins upon bins of laundry, coffees with pals, a couple new crafts with Dax and of course...more writing!
It was also noted by Laura and I that Laura's are complusive, dangerous and wild in numbers.
Given the power of the Laura triangle, this observation is not surprising to me. (8-)

Did you notice that there was a man named Bernie at karaoke a couple of weeks ago? Yes, I'm attempting my own triangle. Well, right now it's just a straight line....

I am so happy to read your update, especially because I've just begun a burlesque class in the past few weeks. I love it. I am scared to death of it and I love it. I will be reading more for the mama-confidence building I need as I get these hips back in full jiggling order.
